Galna Fort, located in the Malegaon Taluka of Nashik district, is a historically significant hill fort that once guarded trade routes connecting Surat to the Deccan. With massive gates, bastions, and commanding views, it is one of the grandest forts in northern Maharashtra. Perfect for history buffs and adventurous trekkers, Galna offers both architectural grandeur and rugged trekking charm.
Originally under the Yadava dynasty, Galna gained importance during the Bahmani Sultanate period.
It was later captured by the Mughals, then came under Maratha rule under Shivaji Maharaj.
Due to its location on the SuratโDeccan trade route, it was fortified with massive stone walls and gateways.
Later held briefly by the British after the fall of the Marathas.
