Shingnapur Fort, located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, is a hidden hill fort offering a rewarding trek, panoramic views, and ancient Maratha heritage. Though overshadowed by its famous neighbor Shani Shingnapur, this fort carries its own legend, having been part of the medieval and Maratha military chain in the region.
The origins of Shingnapur Fort trace back to the Yadava dynasty, used as a watch post and hill station.
During the 17th century, it was part of the network of forts strengthened by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to secure Ahmednagar.
Though less known, it was used for garrisoning troops and monitoring the route between Aurangabad and Pune.
