Prabhuling jiroli
The Kedarnath Temple, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a part of the sacred Char Dham Yatra. Located at a height of 3,583 meters (11,755 ft) near the Mandakini River, Kedarnath is not just a place of devotion but also a journey of faith, endurance, and breathtaking natural beauty.
Believed to be originally built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra war to seek Lord Shiva’s forgiveness.
The current structure was constructed by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
Withstood natural calamities over centuries, including the 2013 flash floods, after which it was restored without damage to the sanctum.
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas representing the powerful manifestation of Lord Shiva.
Part of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit.
The only Jyotirlinga located in the Himalayas, believed to grant moksha (liberation).
Every year, thousands of devotees trek through steep terrain to receive darshan of Kedarnath Mahadev.
