Prabhuling jiroli
The Somnath Temple, located in Prabhas Patan, near Veraval in Gujarat, is one of the most revered and ancient temples in India. As the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, it holds deep spiritual, architectural, and historical significance for devotees and historians alike.
Believed to be originally built by the Moon God (Chandra Dev) in gold, then rebuilt in silver by Ravana, in wood by Krishna, and finally in stone by the Solanki kings.
The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt at least six times by invaders including Mahmud of Ghazni, Alauddin Khilji, and the Mughals, only to be restored again as a symbol of India's resilience.
The current structure was reconstructed under the orders of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1951 after independence.
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas, representing the eternal and unbroken essence of Lord Shiva.
It’s mentioned in ancient scriptures like the Rigveda, Skanda Purana, and Shiv Purana.
Considered a part of the sacred Char Dham Yatra of Gujarat.
