Prabhuling jiroli
Tarapith, located in Birbhum district of West Bengal, is one of India’s most powerful and mystic Shakti Peethas, dedicated to Goddess Tara – a fierce form of Maa Kali. Revered by tantrics and spiritual seekers, this sacred site is known for its intense sadhana, cremation ground rituals, and divine blessings.
According to legends, when Sati’s third eye or eyeball fell here, it became a Shakti Peetha.
Goddess Tara is worshipped as the liberator from fear and illusion.
Considered the spiritual capital for Tantric sadhana in Bengal.
The adjoining cremation ground (Maha Smashan) is believed to be where Maa Tara manifests in her most raw and powerful form.
The current temple is over 200 years old, though the site has been sacred for millennia.
Built by Rani Bhabani of Natore, a devoted queen and temple patron.
The idol of Maa Tara is made of stone and adorned with sindoor, silver, and red hibiscus flowers.
